The Deal Or No Deal host, 67, alleged that he had used the EMPpad, a machine which aims to stimulate 'cellular resonance' in the body, as part of a regime to cure himself from cancer that he said was caused by stress. It came a day after the presenter sparked fury by promoting the gadget on Twitter, and then telling a cancer patient that his disease could have been caused by his 'negative attitude'.

His claims were met with anger by This Morning host Phillip Schofield, and the show's doctor, Dr Ranj Singh, who said that there is no evidence that a machine can harness the effects of positive energy. Other experts have also disputed his claims.

Scroll down for video. Edmonds was involved in a heated interview on This Morning where he defended his claims over cancer. Hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, left, challenged Edmonds' beliefs that cancer could be caused by negative energy, prompting the presenter to state they were 'missing the point'. Co-host Holly Willoughby asked if he would ask a child if their cancer was caused by negative energy.

He replied: 'I think you're completely missing the point here. The point here is that when I found out I had prostate cancer, I went out there and started to ask as many questions as possible. I changed my diet, I exercised in a different way I then had my tumour destroyed by sound waves, proving yet again energy is at the heart of this issue. He continued: 'I was, I thought, very, very healthy. I know why I got my cancer: because I had gone through a very stressful, very negative period in my life.

Schofield asked: 'The stress in your life gave you prostate cancer? He replied: 'Yes, because the definition of stress is negative energy. It didn't just decide to manifest itself, there was cause. Something triggers it, I don't believe what you say or think triggers it, but outside forces trigger it All I want to encourage is get the information.

Schofield repeated a statement from the makers of the EMPpad, which said they did 'not agree with it Mr Edmonds' statement in any way, shape or form'. He replied: 'Fine, all I'm saying is, by using pulsed electromagnetism and a series of other things, I am now free of prostate cancer. Edmonds, left and right at the show, said 'stress' and 'outside forces' had caused his cancer, although failed to fully address Willoughby's question about whether children's cancer was caused by 'negative energy'.

The presenter, pictured leaving ITV's studios, has come under fire from the public for his controversial claims over cancer. Edmonds had tweeted to user VaunEarl, whose Twitter biography states he has kidney cancer, lymph node metastases and psoriatic arthritis, 'Scientific fact-disease is caused by negative energy. Is it possible your ill health is caused by your negative attitude? When host Schofield called the question 'insensitive', Edmonds defended his claim.

He said: 'As someone who until very recently had cancer, all I asked was a question. He then said he 'objected' to the angle the programme had taken in covering the row, claiming he had just 'asked a question' of the twitter user, who had described the EMPpad as 'quackery'.I'm A Celebrity Earlier this week Noel Edmonds was revealed as the surprise cherry on the cake for this year's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
